Yeah, I chew gum a lot and use the AC when the room temp is above 80° F, or 27°C, and basically agree with the rest of what you point out. BTW, I was among a large group of math people who tried to help the U.S. convert from the imperial system to metric back in the 1970s, which, as you know, was an abject failure. And the reason I heard most from dissenters? It's too difficult. Aargh!
