Key Differences Between Left and Right — Part Two

My primary target in Part One was the Left, and Part Two will deal almost entirely with what I see as problems that are infecting the current Republican party.

When I began posting on Medium, I came not as an aspiring young writer but as an already long-retired math-science educator, motivated by the sense that America risked losing its democracy altogether in allowing anyone as depraved and self-serving as Donald Trump to become president. For that reason, I felt that turning to Medium.com, or a reasonable facsimile, was necessary because by early 2017 not a single one of the journalists I followed had begun to seriously address this.

But as bad as it was that my long-trusted journalists didn’t appear to be taking notice, they weren’t alone. The majority of our citizenry also seemed as unaware of our nation’s potential danger as the proverbial frog in the pot that’s slowly coming to a boil — and to remain unaware of its fate until it’s just too late.

Also, consider that people rarely notice historical changes taking place as they’re actually unfolding — only to realize well after the fact that they have, in fact, occurred. And, as with the frog, they can’t change that particular course of history because it, also, is already too late.
