Can You Build Up Your Biceps Through Pushups Alone?
About a month ago, I read a Medium article by a Marx D. (no idea what the D stands for) about how doing 100 daily pushups can be quite beneficial. He gave an excellent report of his actual experience, of how difficult it was from the get-go, but that the payoff, though good, was still lacking in that there was no benefit for (and here’s a direct quote from Marx) “my biceps … at all after the 30 days. This also makes sense because no muscles are used in your bicep when doing a push-up. It was a little disappointing to me because I wanted to see a change in my entire upper body…”
I, too, began doing pushups early on during the pandemic shutdown. But I did them perhaps for different reasons; for one thing, I wasn’t out to prove or disprove anything, just to find myself a good and doable workout to tide me over during the corona virus pandemic. I don’t recall Marx D. giving his age, but I was a month shy of my 80th birthday when the pandemic shutdown began. Here, in the Los Angeles area where I live, the shutdown began the 2nd week of March, 2020, and my 80th birthday would come on April 13. Up until then, I was a regular at the nearby LA Fitness gym, where I used a variety of equipment, including machines, free weights, stationary bicycles, and the treadmill.
